NECCTAR

We are the North East London Critical Care Transfer And Retrieval Service, a dedicated mobile intensive care bed on wheels that serves the people of North East London and beyond. NECCTAR was an emergently developed regional capability with a unified vision to preserve the standard of critical care support whilst transitioning patients across intensive care units in the sector, the London region, and nationally.

The NECCTAR team is always supervised by a dedicated retrieval consultant. Referring units no longer need to dilute their critical care department's daily staffing to send an in-house team to transfer a patient. Direct oversight by the duty retrieval consultant transforms adult critical transfer medicine from a junior-led, junior-delivered operation across England to a consultant-supervised process.

NECCTAR is deployed immediately upon activation and will undertake the entire process of transferring a patient, leaving the referring site at full staffing whilst offering the patient the safest possible journey. We may also assist with bespoke stabilisation, optimisation, and monitoring for a particular patient for an extended period of time.
